Michael Anthony “Tony” Yount
February 15, 1966 – July 1, 2024

Michael Anthony Yount, known affectionately as Tony, passed away on July 1, 2024, in Dothan, Alabama, at the age of 58. Born on February 15, 1966, in Los Angeles, California, Tony led a life marked by devotion to his family, a passion for the outdoors, and a commitment to service.

Tony served in the United States Army with distinction, completing four years of active duty followed by four years in the reserves. His military career was characterized by the same loyalty and dedication he showed in every aspect of his life.

Following his military service, Tony embarked on a diverse career path. He worked as a Surgical Tech, a Police Officer, and an OTR Truck Driver. Each role demonstrated his wide-ranging skills and his ability to adapt to different challenges.

Tony was a man of deep faith, finding solace and strength in his Bible. His love for the Lord was evident in his everyday actions and his commitment to living a life of kindness and generosity.

An avid outdoorsman, Tony cherished the time he spent hunting, fishing, and collecting firearms. He was also known for his unique collection of expensive cowboy boots and his dream of one day owning a Corvette.

Family was the cornerstone of Tony’s life. He is survived by his mother, Helen Louise Yount; brothers Keith Yount, Alvin Yount (Linda), and Greg Yount; sons Tristan Yount and Gharet Yount; and a host of family and friends. He was preceded in death by his adopted mother, Billie Stephan.

Tony’s personality was larger than life. Known for his resonant voice and beaming smile, he never met a stranger and turned many acquaintances into close friends. His sense of humor brought joy and laughter to those around him, and he will be remembered for his jokes and the light he brought into every room.

At this time, there will be no memorial service. The Alabama Funeral Home and Cremation Center in Opelika, Alabama, is assisting the family during this difficult time.

Tony’s legacy of love for his boys, laughter, and loyalty will forever be cherished by those who were fortunate enough to know him. He will be dearly missed.
