Nancy Catherine Sellers Scott
August 1, 1949 – November 1, 2024
A Celebration of Life Service for Mrs. Nancy Catherine Sellers Scott, 75, of Alexander City, will be Thursday, November 7, 2024 at 2:00 pm at First Presbyterian Church of Alexander City. Pastor Mike Densmore will officiate.
A veteran educator, Nancy held a life-long love of learning and an inherent curiosity about the world. She found immense joy in sharing this with countless young people in Tallapoosa County through enrichment and gifted education classes and through the Pegasus Program that she established with her long-time teaching partner Betty Baker. She firmly believed that a child’s life is greatly enhanced by the exploration and examination of historical, cultural, scientific, and artistic endeavors. Her passion for the power of education inspired both her husband, Fletcher and her daughter, Laura, to seek their own paths of influence as educators.
This love of education was second only to her love of her family and friends. Possessed of a compassionate heart and a fondness for laughter, Nancy was happiest when those around her were happy, too. Good books, artistic pursuits, pets, and traveling with her husband also brought her great joy.
Nancy passed away on Friday, November 1, 2024 at her residence. She is survived by her husband Fletcher, daughter Laura Scott Burroughs (Adam), grandson Alexander Gulledge (Alyson), brother Ed Sellers (Melanie), and a host of nieces, nephews and special cousins.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Billy and Mary Joanna Sellers and brothers Stephen Sellers and B.B. Sellers.
The family asks that in lieu of flowers donations be made to the Alzheimer’s Association, the Alexander City Public Library, or the Dadeville Public Library.
