Alfred Frank Deuel, 76, of Talladega, AL died March 12th, 2019 at home surrounded by family.

He was born May 23rd, 1942, in Sedalia, Missouri, the son of late Eddie and Daisy Deuel. He was the sixth of 7 brothers. On December 22nd, 1972, he married Sherry Paulette Deuel.

He graduated from Gallaudet University in 1966. He married Sherry Paulette Deuel on December 22nd, 1972, in Huntsville, Al. He taught at Alabama School for the Deaf from 1967-1974, Virginia School for the Deaf from 1974-1985, and Phoenix School for the Deaf from 1985-1990. He coached football and basketball ’71 football/basketball national championships. He was inducted into 2014 Hall of Fame for his coaching years with Virginia, and inducted into 2016 Hall of fame with Alabama. Mr. Deuel served and did volunteer work with the Boy Scouts, Troup 29 and National Forest Services from 67-74 and 90-96 in Talladega, AL. Boy Scout Master with Troup 76 of Virginia from 74-85. Mr. Deuel was a member of First United Methodist Church of Talladega, Alabama Association for Deaf, Alabama School for the Deaf Alumni Association, and Talladega Chapter for the Deaf.

He is survived by his wife, Sherry Paulette McBride of 46 years, his sons, Scott M. Deuel of Munford and Michael W. Deuel of Huntsville; grandchildren, Abel, Gabrielle, Mara of Munford, and Cameron of Huntsville; brother, Bill Deuel of Columbia, MO; and Harold Deuel of St. Augustine, Fl.

Mr. Deuel was preceded in death by his parents, John E. Deuel and Daisy E. Deuel; brothers, John, George, Ernest, and Joe Deuel.

A celebration of life service will be held March 17th from 2pm-4pm at Family Home at 378 Pinehurst Drive, Talladega, Alabama.
