David Marlan Whitt, Sr., 78, died Saturday, June 29, 2019 at EAMC. He was surrounded by his wife of 57 years, JoAnn Whitt and his family.

Mr. Whitt was the son of the late Clifford and Pauline Whitt of Spring Garden, Alabama born on October 4, 1940. He served in the US Army, 1959 – 1962. He worked at Uniroyal for 30 years until he retired. He was a graduate of Southern Union Community College. He served as the Commander of the E.W. Allgood Memorial VFW Post 5404, Auburn, AL. He was a big part of Whitt’s Auto Service from 1995.

He always loved an adventure, to travel, to meet new people, and he was a diehard Auburn fan. He especially loved to spend time with friends and family. He will be dearly missed. He was a devoted husband and loving father, grandfather, and great-grandfather.

He is survived by his spouse of 57 years, JoAnn Whitt; brother, Wayne (Myra) Whitt; children, David (Mary) Whitt, Jr., Donna (Ed) Brown, Keith (Lisa) Whitt; nephews, Ricky and Chad Whitt; grandchildren, Megan Norred, Alex Norred, Zoe Elliot, Gus Whitt (Kendal Walton), Kendall Whitt, Bryan Evans, April Hornsby, Amber Hornsby, Megan Burton, Amanda Warren, Laurel Goins; great-grandchildren, Connor Norred, Eleanor Norred, Micaela Brown, Easton Burton, Brennan Warren, Reese Warren, Raylan Goins, Henry Shaffer, Jakob Hornsby, and Eli Pitchford.

A memorial service will be held on Wednesday, July 3, 2019 at 6:30 p.m. in the chapel of Frederick-Dean Funeral Home in Opelika, Alabama. A visitation will take place an hour prior to the service in the parlor of Frederick-Dean Funeral Home. He will be buried at Fort Mitchell National Cemetery prior to the service.
