Leslie René Chamblee
July 18, 1973 – December 29, 2023
Leslie René Chamblee of Opelika, Alabama, went home to Jesus on December 29, 2023, at the young age of 50 after a two-and-a-half year battle with cancer.
Leslie was born to William and Connie Peterson on July 18,1973 in Monroe, Wisconsin, second among four children born into an Air Force family. Leslie mainly grew up in Louisiana and spent holidays with family in Brodhead, Wisconsin. She was the protector of the family and very much a tomboy. She loved playing softball and watching her dad play in the adult leagues. The three girls were known for putting on a concert in the kitchen every day while doing dishes. Leslie graduated from Gwinn High School in upper Michigan.
Leslie met her husband, Steve, at K.I. Sawyer Air Force Base while in Michigan in 1993. They married in 1996 and went on to have three children together: Kyra, Cameron, and Dakota. Most of her life after marrying was lived in Opelika, Alabama, where she raised her kids full-time before rejoining the workforce later in life as the children got older.
In addition to being a dedicated and loving mother, Leslie was a caregiver in many work roles in both Wisconsin and Alabama. She loved her special friend Ty at the Dungarvin supported living center in Janesville, and she visited him each time she traveled back home. Leslie was a certified nurse assistant and enjoyed taking care of others around her. She held multiple positions in different hospitals over the years.
Leslie is preceded in death by paternal grandparents Robert and Mary Peterson, and is survived by many: husband, Steven Chamblee; children, Kyra (Jordan) Price, Cameron Chamblee, and Dakota Chamblee; step-children, Tara Chamblee, Chris Chamblee, and Elizabeth Chamblee; five grandchildren and step-grandchildren; siblings, Karla (Bobby) Jurado, Audra (Philip) Anderson, and Billy Peterson; parents, William and Connie Peterson; and grandparents, Calvin and Jean Wickline.
