William Howard Johnson Sr.
November 15, 1939 – January 29, 2025
William Howard Johnson Sr., a devoted husband, father, grandfather, and dedicated public servant, passed away on January 29, 2025, in Alexander City, Alabama.
William proudly served his country for 17 years in the United States Navy, achieving the rank of Chief Petty Officer during the Vietnam conflict. Following his military service, he pursued higher education and earned an MBA from Auburn University at Montgomery (AUM). He went on to dedicate over 30 years of his professional life to the Alabama Department of Public Health, where his contributions left a lasting impact. After retiring, William settled in Jacksons Gap, Alabama.
He was married to Margaret Keane for 62 wonderful years. Together they raised five children: Bridget Rebecca, Sean Patrick, William Howard Jr., Michael Alleyne, and Eric Keane. William was also a proud grandfather to Oliver Duvall, Jordan Johnson, and Lucas Johnson.
A funeral service will be held on Wednesday, February 5th at 12 PM at St. John the Apostle Catholic Church. A reception will follow the service.
William’s legacy of service and dedication will be remembered by all who knew him. May his memory bring comfort to his loved ones.
